Bibb First Hut
Beelu National Park
Test yourself on this physical 21km return walk on the world famous Bibbulmun Track. Starting from the Northern Terminus in Kalamunda, the track passes through Jorgensen Park, and then enters Kalamunda National Park where we follow Piesse Gully with great granite boulder formations. A short side trip to Rocky Pool and then continue the climb up from the valley. We will pass the infamous "Cock Rock" on our journey. Passing through farm properties, we eventually get to Calamunnda Camel Farm, where we have a short break and enjoy a coffee and snacks before the final couple of k's to Hewett's Hill Hut. The Hut was named after Peter Hewett, a former Superintendent of the Forests Department in the 1970's who was instrumental in giving the idea of the Bibbulmun Track the green light. After enjoying lunch and the surrounds of the campsite, we'll head off again on our return trip back to Kalamunda. If the Kalamunda Tavern is open, we will enjoy a beer to celebrate a great day out on the Bibbulmun Track.
